As a Senior Data Analyst at Telegraph, you’ll have a hands-on role in shaping our data landscape. You’ll tackle a variety of high-impact analytics initiatives: from building predictive models to delivering actionable insights that inform strategic decisions. You’ll also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (Product, Operations, Engineering) to continually refine our data products and ensure they meet real-world customer needs. You will continue to focus on building out the key data pillars:
Customer Analytics – Uncovering patterns and trends to help our clients optimize their operations, including creating ad hoc reports and dashboards to address emerging needs, allowing the business to stay ahead of the analytics requirements and standardizing the customer experience.
Product Analytics – Partnering with Product and Engineering teams to analyze usage data, user behavior, and feature performance, driving continual product improvements.
Business Analytics – Shepherding key operational + financial reporting, collaborating with stakeholders to inform strategic decisions, and presenting findings that impact the bottom line.
Data Analysis & Insights
– Conduct deep-dive analyses to support customer-facing projects, product feature optimization, and financial reporting.
– Translate business questions into data queries, delivering clear, actionable conclusions that inform decision-making.
Dashboard Creation & Optimization
– Develop and maintain intuitive dashboards (using tools like Tableau or Power BI – or any new softwares) for a range of stakeholders—from executives to operations teams—to drive transparency and efficiency.
– Continuously review and enhance existing dashboards to reflect changes in product offerings, customer requests, or business goals.
Ad Hoc Analysis & Customer Support
– Respond swiftly to high-priority, ad hoc analysis needs, showcasing the ability to turn around data requests under tight timelines.
– Collaborate closely with our customer facing teams to produce custom reports for clients, acting as a go-to resource for data-driven problem-solving.
Financial & Operational Reporting
– Work with Finance and leadership to provide robust, accurate reporting on revenue trends, operational costs, and other key business metrics.
– Identify potential inefficiencies or revenue opportunities through thorough data exploration and root-cause analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
– Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to gather requirements, test hypotheses, and measure product success metrics.
– Communicate findings through presentations, written summaries, or interactive dashboards—tailoring the message to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Process Improvement & Best Practices
– Help refine processes around data quality, documentation, and governance, ensuring reliable and well-organized data pipelines.
– Advocate for data-driven decision-making by proposing new tools or techniques that streamline reporting and analysis.
Education
– Bachelor’s degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Professional Experience
– 4–5+ years of experience in a data analytics role, preferably within a startup, logistics, or similarly dynamic environment.
– Demonstrated experience working from research question to finished dashboard or executive presentation
Technical Expertise
– Proficiency in SQL for complex data querying and transformation.
Experience with at least one BI/visualization tool (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker), with the ability to create compelling dashboards and reports.
– Familiarity with basic scripting or data manipulation in Python or R is a plus, but heavy machine learning experience is not required.
– Familiarity with data transformation frameworks like dbt for scalable and maintainable analytics pipelines is a plus.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills
– Strong aptitude for turning raw data into meaningful insights.
– Ability to communicate complex findings effectively and concisely to a variety of stakeholders.
Team Collaboration & Communication
– Comfortable working in a cross-functional setting—interfacing at all levels with product, engineering, finance, and customer-facing teams.
– Adept at managing multiple projects or requests simultaneously, with an iterative mindset and a willingness to pivot as needed.
– Thrives in a remote or distributed work environment, effectively leveraging digital tools and asynchronous communication.
Industry Knowledge (Preferred)
– Familiarity with freight, logistics, or transportation is beneficial, but not mandatory. An eagerness to learn the industry is essential.
